It is that glorious time of year again, when all of the Christmas displays go up, grocers stock their shelves with delightful seasonal treats, and cosmetic companies present their best- Christmas gift sets! The week after Halloween is when I head straight to MAC and Sephora.
I can't resist Christmas gift sets for a number of reasons:
- They are really good value! Often, you are getting several products for free, or are paying a lot less. Take the gorgeous MAC brush set this year. For five brushes you are paying $59.50 CAD, that works out to $12 a brush, AND it comes in a glitzy makeup bag, perfect for travel.
- The Christmas sets are gorgeous and often include the limited edition sparkly holiday colors that might be too flashy any other time of year. Cosmetic companies go all out. The boxes and packaging can be exquisite!
- Some products come in travel or mini sizes, which is a great way to test out the variety of products before committing to future full-size products. Often I will try all of the contents of a value set and determine which products will go in my professional makeup kit the following season.
It is a makeup artist's dream to play around with new colors and textures. This year I purchased Glo Skin Beauty's Leave your mark Crayon box $119 CAD, Sephora's Prime Set and Go $50, and Sephora's Ready Set Style $39, which includes 5 travel styling sprays from different brands. Nothing is more exciting than trying out and playing with these new products! (Maybe I'll do a review in the future! Insert winking smile emoji)
Whether shopping for yourself, or for gifts, I wouldn't wait too long to purchase these sets. Once they sell out, there is usually no replenishment. I've also noticed less options as we get closer to Christmas! Happy shopping and happy holidays!
